♥Tsimi
I have difficulties to understand the search result system from Google and hope that some of you can shed some light in this. So here is what's happening. I access google.co.jp (Japan) then I search for a keyword and my shop shows on page 3 of the results. Then I do the same thing but with the google.com (US) site but this time I am not even near the first 10 pages. Then I do the same for google.de or google.ch and same there. Not even close to the first few pages. So is google restricting results by location? Because my site is a .jp site and not a .com site? How can I influence that? Can it be influenced? Any info regarding this is appreciated. Thanks.
greasemonkey
Only the wizard knows for sure what happens behind the curtain. But we can speculate. Googles results are most definitely regional. And To reach top ranking globally for your important search strings you would have to be seen as a globally important/critical destinations for those searching this string - no matter where you search from. An almost impossible task for most people - I would suggest. Good news ... With unlimited money that top spot is for sale ????????????
discxpress
@@Tsimi From my understanding, it's according to the data center and the keyword string of the user. You could rank number 1 in one data center and 250 in another for the same keyword. There's also speculation that the more money you spend on Adwords, the more boost you get in organic results. Hint: Study Google Analytics before and after you run a campaign. If you notice, there's only one company that rank number one for all keywords, Amazon. They have a $20M monthly advertising budget. Who can compete with that? Just my opinion.
clustersolutions
I agree, ranking is by region and language play a big part in ranking. We had a site that once ranked well and bought in 20% of sales from UK, and now basically none. We would have to either carry out SEO emphasizing on UK, or just spend that cash on marketing to UK. We have come to the conclusion that there will be a cost associated with it and as long as it is around 15% we are okay with it. So go ahead and pick the one that works. There is a direct correlation between Adwords spending and organic result and, yes, the more you spend on CPC you organic conversion would increase, too. For example, the organic search for abc.com would increase with the increase of abc.com compnay's CPC budget. I hope abc.com would rank #1 for its own organic search. My conclusion is based on looking at an account for a long period of time that has a $30k+ monthly ad budget. So there should be some statistical significant. There's also speculation that the more money you spend on Adwords, the more boost you get in organic results.
burt
In my experience; goog jp contains many more .jp sites and these are given a boost as goog jp expects people using goog jp to want to find jp sites. Same for UK Same for Poland Same fo XYZ the only different one is .com which is more of a worldwide thing. Your .jp site is in there, but it competes with all the other sites around the world. If I use goog jp to search for something, I get the exact same results as I do on goog com. It's possible that not only does goog jp have more jp sites but to get the benefit you also have to be in Japan to see them.

♥John W
In the US if you change your location from Florida to Texas or other states the rankings change. Google used to state that adwords do not affect organic listings, but I haven't looked at that lately. One thing for sure is adwords ads have been manipulated over time and have skyrocketed in price. I have competitors by my domain as an ad which is BS. I figured it out though that Adwords will suggest things like that with their keyword suggestion. They used to be so strict in their adwords and now they allow anything as long as they get paid. Google going public as a stock probably hurt us. I used to really love Google and now I just live with it. I'm not really a dog.
TaylorR
Hi Guys, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. But In my opinion there are multiple number of factors which affect search results. We cannot say which factor is much more deciding or trustworthy. Because google is so closed about its searching algorithm so we can only predict our theories to be true. Bob Terveuren
Hi Guys, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. But In my opinion there are multiple number of factors which affect search results. We cannot say which factor is much more deciding or trustworthy. Because google is so closed about its searching algorithm so we can only predict our theories to be true. My 2p worth echoes the above - the Google algorithm is constantly evolving and finding your personal 'Holy Grail' changes almost weekly. If you have the time you could try searching using proxy servers and a cookieless browser - trouble is you have no idea how Google is serving up the same results to logged in folks - alternative is maybe to pay an SEO 'expert' but, even then, is there any guarantee? (Have a play with duckduckgo but I have no idea how it works with .jp) I used adwords a LOT in 2008 - 2010 promoting a UK limited company (belonged to the missus btw :) ) and during that time we saw the adwords system evolve into something that, simply, was no longer worth pursuing other than to line the pockets of Google shareholders. You could suggest that I use Bing, Duck Duck Go or something else but, being a lazy b*stad I just Google - along with just about every other person on this island Question: when any of you search on a PHP/MySQL/XML related bug/queryon Google - do you get stackoverflow in the top places al; the time? I'll leave you with this little blog So we're stuck with Google? That's getting a tad off your original topic though!
♥John W
@@Bob Terveuren That daniweb article is interesting. Thanks for posting it. Over time I cut back my Adwords and even stopped for a while. I started them back in June but it's a little crazy. I'm not really a dog.
