Guest
Hello, sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a complete tech-noob.I am about to install your Online Merchant v2.3 on our site. Our web host has advised us that in six weeks they will be upgrading all sites from PHP 5.4 (which our site currently uses) to PHP 5.5 and I wanted to make sure that Online Merchant v2.3 is compatible with this. Please advise! Thank you!Heather
greasemonkey
You would have to update to at least 2.3.3.2 http://library.oscommerce.com/Online&en&oscom_2_3&release_notes&v2_3_3_2 This is done step by step: 2.3 to 2.3.1 2.3.2 2.3.3 2.3.3.1 2.3.3.2 And you might as well continue.... 2.3.3.3 2.3.3.4 2.3.4 And or start fresh with 2.3.4 OR preferably the community 2.3.4 Responsive found here http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/396152-bootstrap-3-in-234-responsive-from-the-get-go/

Guest
Thank you both!So if I understand this correctly, then if I start out with a fresh install of the version found herehttp://www.oscommerce.com/Products&Download=oscom234it would be good to go with PHP5.5? Please confirm, just pro forma so I have something to show my boss. :-)If so, that’s what I’ll do. The more straightforward this ends up being, the better, because tech things verge on rocket science to me.Thank you!Heather
MrPhil
Yes, if you're just starting out, you should be installing osC 2.3.4 (or even better, the Bootstrap responsive version). It will work with PHP 5.4 and 5.5. Beware of templates and other purchased stuff that requires (or includes) older versions of osC -- they may not work with recent PHP versions.
