The first thing to check is whether this is on an SSL (https) page, and the "like" icon is http (non-SSL). That could make it disappear. Different browsers behave in different ways when trying to put http content on an https page.

If the page is being displayed in http (non-SSL), it is not an SSL/non-SSL incompatibility. Use your browser to select the area where the icon should be, and ask to display the properties. Is the expected HTML code on the page? If it says it should be displaying an icon, can you manually display that icon (to prove it exists and is in the right place and is displayable)? You would manually type in the icon's full address into the browser address line.

It's odd that it would display in one browser and not another. Usually that means an SSL page/non-SSL content incompatibility, that different browsers handle in different ways. You actually get the icon on Chrome, and not its "alt" text instead? Different browsers handle unavailable images in different ways -- some display a "broken image" icon, some just display the alt text, some show nothing.
