Psytanium
Hello, I have turned some of my previous osc websites to responsive via css modifications, that was too much time consuming. Now I need to build a new website, where should I start from ? 2.3.4 and modify the css files? is there any official responsive release soon ? if i used the bootstrap gold version will i be able to upgrade it later ? Thank you for some explanations.
MrPhil
The developers are promising that 2.3.5 or 2.4 (whichever is up next) will have a migration path from 2.3.4BS. If they fail to follow through with this, I predict an angry lynch mob... As far as when the next osC (with responsive) comes out, who knows. They'll release it when it's ready. If you have a business to run, bite the bullet and install 2.3.4BS, rather than waiting for an unknown period of time for the next official release. The 2.3.5 will be based on 2.3.4. The 2.3.5(responsive) will be based on the 2.3.4(responsive) The 2.4 will be based on the work done in the responsive builds, along with a lot of code improvements. Psytanium
what do you mean by "based" ? same what MrPhill called (migration path) ? is there going to be documentation to upgrade from the current 2.3.4BS to 2.3.5 ? I'm just afraid I start with 2.3.4BS and end up unable to follow the future upgrades.
♥Gyakutsuki
The upgrade for the next Osc, and if you have some contributions, wil be difficult car some code inside osc will be changed. In this case, I recommend you to invest some money with a osc professional to do that or to wait (the contribution will be adapted) for the new version. If you install 2.3.4 and you don't change the code inside, the upgrade will be simple. For this moment, there is nothing to change inside the database. There is no delay for the new release. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/407526-v240-beta-roadmap-pre-announcement/ In all case, I recommend you to follow the development and understand the new structure. There is no official 2.4 beta yet, and option 2 will be a lot of work when it does become available, the upgrade path i.e If you must have an official version to work from, there's a commercial post made by one of the corporate sponsors, a responsive framework for V2.3.
