♥14steve14
At @@burt has brought up a point in another thread that some coders on this forum do not contribute to the core code. He said I should ask those developers why the dont. So here goes. Would there be a developer on this forum willing to put their head above the parapet and hopefully without getting it shot off, be prepared to say why they do not contribute to the core code. Hopefully someone will, without being made a target for abuse. If you feel that you will be abused by others please PM your answer and I will forward them on anonymously to him. Hotclutch
Steve, I think you are being a bit unreasonable wrt the other thread, now leading to this one. You can't claim to be speaking on behalf of all other shopowners either. Henry's choice of words in the other thread may not have been the best, but at least what can be said about him, is that he is passionate and loyal to the project. He does make valid points in there as well, which maybe we should accept. It's clear that at this point of time, there are developers contributing. It's only obvious that whether or not they do is entirely at their own prerogative.
♥14steve14
As the topic is separate from the other thread it was best to start another one here. If its in the wrong place I am sure that someone will either move it or delete it. Gary asked a question that currently cannot be answered, so I have given the developers a chance to say why the dont contribute to the core code. There is nothing wrong with that. They either will or will not respond. I expect that many did not know they could, but lets wait and see. Its a bit like when Gary asked for shop owners to say what they wanted adding to the core code. Only one person responded. No one else did, so they cannot complain as they had their chance. This is a place for developers to have that same chance. If no one responds, things will stay as they are,and no one will be able to complain again. Altered - Spelt name with capital letter. clustersolutions
One thing is contributing to the core and another thing would be it making it into the core. I would like to say everyone here contribute to OSC one way or anther regardless if you are writing the core or just simply using it (or you can look at it as just taking it). I am a developer/partner in stores and I have had vendors that had asked me to build them a store just like ours. So I do see that as contributing to OSC by pushing it forward. The aspect of monetary reward did come up during several of these wars, then why can't these developers be paid? A paid add-on section should help, or just making them partners instead of corp sponsors? Or yet how about setting up crowd funding? I don't think the inquiry forum has given them the ROI. If you read my question in that post I just happened to had the same question as Heather and I was needing some help in the status of 2.4 as well as I was a bit lost with finding the right repository to use. I actually had stated my intention to help with coding or testing the core. I knew the more time I spent on developing on Edge the more work it will take to move it back near the core. Also, I really had wanted to checkout the PDO to firgure out how to move the SEOURL forward... Well, I guess my intention had gotten lost...I am not afraid of getting my head shot off as I can certainly flip a bird behind the keyboard. But why though plus I know some of my clients do check me out online first...hey, I would like OSC to be a thriving community so I can bill them at a better rate...
