zefeena
Hi, When customers go off to pay (currently only option is Paypal), the postage costs are not shown on the paypal page, so if they have added £3 of items, and postage is £2, it just shows cost as £3. Once they log into Paypal, it then shows the shipping options, baring in mind they have already seen the postage shipping options and chosen BEFORE going off to pay. Once they choose continue on Paypal it brings them BACK to my website again and they have to press confirm before money is taken. Problem 1 - even though they have seen postage costs, these are not shown on Paypal until they log in Problem 2 - if they change the shipping option on the website, when it gets over to Paypal and they log in it defaults back to the cheapest method - this means if a customer changes it to Special delivery on the website, it will default to second class when they go to Pay, they think its on Special Delivery but only pay for second class - not happy customers when they are in a hurry. Problem 3 - customers get fed up of clicking continue!! Anyone any clue as to whether this a is Paypal setting, or a coding error? if the latter, please point me towards which files are likely to be the culprits so I can see if I can find the problem. Apologies for pestering today, just on a bit of a fixing roll! zefeena
Still not got a clue with this. Can anyone help please? I'm getting endless emails from customers who have selected a faster shipping option, but as it reverts back to the cheaper one, are not getting it! ♥14steve14
On your Paypal profile how have you got the shipping costs set up. I seem top remember that in your selling preferences there was something about shipping costs. You could choose either costs from your website or costs as set up in paypal. What Paypal payment module are you using? REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
zefeena
Hi, I'm using the Paypal APP. The shipping costs are not set up in paypal. The costs are the ones from my website, its just this strange re-set after people have logged on, it basically doesn't carry the changes to the paypal page. It re-sets to the cheapest option as soon as they log on (though it does offer the other options once on the paypal page and if the charge is changed there it will save it when it goes back to the website) Its paypal express (but I have removed the instant checkout button, so they have to log on and check out through my website - namely as I have a discount code box, which would get bypassed if they go to instant checkout) Running a botched up version of osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3.4 bootstrap with the dresscode theme installed, numerous add-ons, terrible coding, terrible website, but will have to make do until I have made up for my losses and can risk shutting down for a couple of weeks while I start all over again. - I did not install my program but am endeavouring to fix it with your help. burt
What is "instant update" set to ? False or True ?
zefeena
Its set to true, I tried setting it to false, but that still re-set it, but didn't show shipping at all, so people didn't even get a chance to re-set it back to what they actually wanted. Bob Terveuren
Hi have a look at the last post on this page - that bears a resemblance to your one and it also looks a bit like the problem Mort-Lemur-Heather had recently with UK shipping & PayPal some time recently
zefeena
Hi Bob, The initial post is EXACTLY the same problem I am having, but it doesn't seem any one found a solution. The last post about the missing 'payment zone' is not a problem for me. It DOES work out tax and shipping correctly, its just that it doesn't show it straight away and when it does it has reverted back to the cheapest option. I have my payment zone set up as 'global', and have different zones for tax, for EU, international etc. they have always calculated the normal 20% for Uk but no tax for international - as it should. greasemonkey
@@Mort-lemur @@zefeena Hey guys, I'm not sure that post will lead you to a solution - as I was not able to solve my issue (which looks to be the same). I presumed with my shipping modules (I use 2 API's that for shipping rates plus a couple zone modules) the callback time required by PayPal was over the 6 seconds allowed (even though my shipping rates load on checkout_shipping.php much quicker than this - they must not load on PP quick enough). At the end - instant update did not ever work for me. I'm not 100% sure what the issue was, but decided instant was not mobile friendly so turned it off. My final "resolution" is here; http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/402359-modding-up-a-234bs-gold/?p=1727463 I say "resolution"...... but really still its not 100%. zefeena
Hi, This problem seems a lot more complex than I imagined, and having read through all the threads etc, i'm convinced that due to my lack of program understanding I'm almost certain to make it worse! I would like to add I have removed the paypal express button - customers HAVE to log into my site before processing their order. Two reasons for this: it will not give the discount box if going straight off to paypal, also the customers Paypal address is imported and invariably incomplete, and by making them create an account on my website I get a newly input complete address to refer to. Some customers do not seem to have an issue and are managing to select the correct option. I am convinced the problems have a lot ot do with Paypals 'streamlining' incentive. When you go through checkout (particularly on ebay), it asks if you want to 'streamline' your checkout and 'saves' your password/details. Personally I have been careful not to do this as there are 4 people in my home, each with their own Paypal account, and while they rarely use my computer, if they were do so and 'bought' from ebay when I had 'streamlined' my checkout, it would automatically take payment from MY paypal account without giving them the option to log into their own. I strongly believe this is a big part of the problem, as my regular customers who are having no problems with their change of shipping choices, have identical addresses for both 'customer and shipping', which shows me it is the address they entered onto my website and not one imported from Paypal. For the moment I will leave it, and just tolerate my 'hate' mail!! burt
If you have removed the button from the cart page, then you have removed the benefit of Paypal Express...so an idea might be to try "paypal standard" and see if the same problem occurs ?
