Ive got MGMT installed and all seem fine except i struggling with getting my head around setting up for Royal Mail International standard airmail. the good old royal mail have created 3 Zones for this service, displayed in either red for zone 1 or grey for zone 2 and a third zone in there pricing for Europe that seems can be a red or a grey good old Royal Mail. So how do i set up to offer this service is this 3 zones 3 table's? i can get one running and it deals with the right weight and pricing taken from the product etc but when the buyer lives in say Australia selects a product how do i set a country to a zone is this done in prefix is so how. when set up correctly am i right in thinking that it will show the service available to that country. I can only seem to see rest of world nothing else available how can i at least select EU have i not configured something that should be or is something in the wrong place

This is on my todo list today so I'll keep your question in the back of my mind as I work through it and post back here.   As I recall though you need to set the zones up (they need to start with Shp: or something like that) and then include the appropriate countries, states or whatever.  Did you do that?

i was thinking that but i was trying to find how to add multiple zones like shp: usa, cnd, aus, but couldnt find how to string a few country codes for each zone as there are many for each zone, there listed on royal mails web site and i would sooner add or remove from each zone as royal mail change there mind. its the shp: bit i am stuck on as ive no idea how to import to database the files provided with the download mine give errors

I think you can add a zone and then add the countries you want to it....

ie Shp: Zone1

Countries CA, AZ, ZA etc

Shp: Zone2

Countries WHAT EVER

etc.

I haven't used the option to import GEO Zones but it shouldn't be hard to set them up...to do so the manual says...See the documentation.pdf in your copy of the osCommerce release package for instructions on setting up Geo Zones. Look in the Locations & Taxes section starting around page 51.

Just finished downloading the package, unzipping it and reading the manual.  So I'm off to install it now.

I'll let you know how it goes...

In that case you might find this link helpful...

BTW, I just finished the install and it works as you'd expect.   I'll take a look at the default Geo Zones for you in a second...I didn't use them but they should be pretty easy to install.

Back shortly...

I had a quick look and it is just the sql to set up a Geo Zone for the Entire European Union with 25 sub zones.  If you have access to phpadmin you can easily run the sql if you want but based on one of your earlier notes I think you'd be better off setting up the zones that you want and then filling in the weights and rates etc.  I  keep an excel spreadsheet to calculate my weights and rates and then just paste them into appropriate table whenever I want to update them...usually just once a year.

Let me know if I can be of any further help, assuming of course, that I was of some help in the first place...

so on the prefix can i use the Shp:us,cnd, etc, etc ? that way if i am right it will only show the postage cost for the zone its set to? ive got uk sorted with the royal mail add on that works great, if i use the Shp prefix and dont include UK it doesnt show so i presume its because uk isnt in the Shp which is what i need. it was just the prefix i was confused with like any spaces etc or a comma seperating or any spaces etc. i did try myphpadmin to try add the sql but on import read an error so i kept away from that as i didnt want to trash my database.

I wouldn't do that.  The prefix is just used to distinguish the shipping zones from the tax zones that are set up.   The zones use a common module to handle the set up step.  The prefix just distinguishes with table/zone is which...I would keep it simple and leave the prefix as it is and get on with setting up the zones.

I know the feeling...I find it scary when I know what I'm doing. It usually means that I don't. :)

One step at a time.   Did you set up your Tax Zones (aka Shp Zones) yet?   Do that first.

so the tax zone is for the tax on shipping? or the tax on the product? As a company grows it will eventually and doesnt take long before in the UK your then VAT registered and then the charge varies depending on the country your sending to, Post office also charge VAT on all parcels sent either to the UK or Worldwide. which i think if VAT registered will be able to claim back, It appears to me that every country that is pre-installed and those that are not will require a tax Zone even if TAX is not yet charged therefore setting to no tax in the geozone setting in admin. :) i am either looking to deep here, or i am not far out, or my luck miles away. the aim for me is to link to UPS and other couriers offering a choice of prices that i have set up with the royal mail add on that works great.

I don't know anything about your tax structure in the UK but I can help with the shipping zones to use with MGMT if you are still working on that.   Sounds like you have either moved on or are getting ahead of yourself.

If you're still working on MGMT let me know whether you got your shipping zones sorted out.

i worked it out i think, ive created 3 zones one for europe and one for World Zone 2, i already had a uk zone set as a standard uk install so left that as is as it doesnt belong in the europe zone or world zone as i am based in the uk. ive added the countries to the zones they belong to. then in admin shipping i created 3 zones with a table to each zone, the first table i was able to select Europe, and add the price string, the second table i was able to select zone 2 and also add the price string, i left the 3 zone on rest of the world with zone 3 prices in the price string. yep i reackon ive sussed it. now to see if it shows if i click on cheack out i hope i only see the UK only prices running the royal mail add on and not any international prices all this seem like it finaly clicked? its a case of thinking the way it was laid out and not your own way i guess.

if i click on check out i am offered international postage and a uk postage, i am thinking i need another zone for the uk right? also royal mail standard is only up to 2kg but it offers a 2kg price for a 4kg weight, how can i prevent that

completely sorted this now even added a uk courier adding international couriers next this add on works a treat, looking at tracking mods although i think ive only seen a royal mail nod for tracking. i think Api with a courier maybe needed for that, but i guess a quick email customer with tracking details wil do.

Dan your the Man thanks for that SOLVED

Glad you got it sorted David.  I've used that module for years and it has always worked a treat.  I've even had Josh, the original author of it, do some customization to it so I could offer shipping breaks at different thresholds....ie $3.00 off for orders over $50.00...$5.00 off on orders over $100.00 etc...an incentive for placing larger orders.
