reneechabs Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I am a complete newbie - I am adding products to our website easily but because the website address has changed the tabs at the top of the page no longer take me to the right page. Do I change this somehow through the F12. Cause it seems to work until I go out and then it reverts back to the old web address? Sorry if this is a really stupid question but I really would like to be able to make these few changes myself. Pics attached. Renee
Jack_mcs Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 It's not a stupid question but there isn't enough details to answer it, at least for me. I'm not clear what you me by "the website address has changed." Does that mean your domain name changed? If so, it might be because whoever coded your menu used absolute paths. You should also mention what version of oscommerce this is in any of your posts about the shop. reneechabs Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks Jack_mcs - Sorry Yes the domain name has changed so when I click on the tab it tries to go to the old website address. Another stupid question is how do I know what version it is ? I just logon online, I don't have an actual copy on my desktop ??
Jack_mcs Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 For a standard shop, the url and paths on the server are stored in the includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php files. When you change the domain name, that has to be changed in those files. But if you are using a template, or a site that someone coded incorrectly, there could also be links in the code that point to the old site. There's no easy way to determine if this is the case from a support thread. For the configure files, you can post them here (don't post the last few lines that have your login details) and also mention what the correct domain name is and someone will take a look at them for you. If you have a relatively new version, you can see what it is by looking in admin->Tools->Server Info.
