If you mean in your browsers web bar you need to look and search for posts about favicon There are many. Google will also give you lots of help.

REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP

WHERE is this that you want your logo + URL? Are you talking about the browser address line or browser tab (that's where the favicon shows up), or are you talking about the top header area of your page itself? If the latter, on just the shop first page, or every page?

By the way, 2.3.3 is fairly old. If you're just starting out, you should be on 2.3.4. If you have an established 2.3.3 shop, you can upgrade to 2.3.3.1, 2.3.3.2, 2.3.3.3, 2.3.3.4, and finally to 2.3.4.

If your hosting company more or less installed it for you, you could try asking them if there's anything they have to do for you to upgrade, or if the standard osC upgrade process will work OK.

Always do a full backup of your files and your database, and test that it's a good backup, before upgrading or doing any other major work. In fact, you should practice in a "test" directory with such copies, to make sure you have everything correct, before working on the live site.

You keep saying "icon to the left of www in the URL" -- are you talking about your browser address line (where you type in a URL)? That's where the favicon will show up. Note that if you add or change the favicon on a site that your browser already has cached, it could take a long time (weeks, even) before it shows up. Click Ctrl+F5 to force a complete fresh reload of the page, or else clear your browser cache before loading the page. If you have a working favicon, it should show up then. You might also want to try different browsers -- some browsers seem to have strange rules about what they'll show for a favicon.

yeah i figured out i am using firefox on linux i guess ie will not look the same and favicon will be in different place. asking the hosting for help is like trying to get blood out of stone. i will try see if i can upgrade from the consol that was how i installed osc in the first place. i will back up database first. i may transfer to a better hosting company who can do that for me, but at the mo i will battle on for a little while. but thanks for the favicon issue its been a while since ive used IE it was on 6x then

It appears that Firefox no longer displays the favicon on the address bar, but does show it on each tab.

Note that most hosting companies draw the line at offering lots of hands-on help to customers. They'll fix something of theirs that broke, but will charge extra to do your work for you. Be prepared to either learn to do it yourself, or pay someone (or the host) plenty of money to do it for you.
