Hello

I have OSC 2.3.4bs installed with Paypal Express Version 3.1

My Tax zones are mixed between UK, Northern Island Europe and so on that pay 20% VAT and Rest of the world which pays 0%

and I use Geo zones for Counties and countries

My problem is as follows, if somebody uses Paypal express to make a purchase and they do not have a county inserted in there address or a short word for a county that my website does not recognise it sets the VAT to 0% and they  check out without paying any VAT, obviously this is only for express checkout, if they stay on my site to check out then they have to put in a county from a drop down list to complete.

Is there anything i can do to rectify this ?

Thank you

David

Hi,

I have a problem much the same as this as per : http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/399695-paypal-express-pesky-problem/ ie if the customer has not set their paypal address correctly then this plays havoc with the shipping and tax modules, could do with an input from @@harald on this one

Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... So much thanks for all the help given along the way by forum members.

Not sure if there are any clues with the following

Because of the above problem I set the rest of the world to 20% VAT

Didnt notice it but this set everything on my site to 40% VAT, in my Tax Zones I have all countries and all zones set for rest of the world, i am guessing that UK is also in there and it has added it twice, sure it should not do this by default

Also if a paypal express payment is cancelled on paypay it is not updating this info on my site

this is 2 areas to explore further,

regards

Thinking this is related to the zones

I have changed rest of world not to include all zones, but to list them seperatly

Then made a new tax zone which i have called allzonesat20percent

and included all eurpean and UK countires with all zones

hopefully if someone in Paypal does not put in correct county it will revert to this one and still charge 20% VAT

time will tell will report back if this has solved it

Sorry That didnt work

Because UK was in both allat20percent and UK tax zones it doubled the VAT to 40%

so its back to the drawing board

Think i have it working ok now

In the zones it must have all zones and not seperate ones, that way if the Paypal customer spells the county wrong it stills goes through

the only issue is we use the free shipping module for most of UK and if the client is in the higlands it does not filter it out as non free shipping but at least we do not loose the order
