Hello from Mexico !

What is the process to migrate (or update) to version MS1 from 2.2 ?

What files changes?

What is the risk?

What is the advantage?

How long does the change takes?

Does anybody have Any document for this topics ?

Thanks

Hi re: updating there are some tools to update the structure of the database included in the downloads you need to take a look at what date your snapshot your current database and files are from

as far as the risk make sure you backup all files and the database I would also take down your site during the upgrade. you need to also take a look at any customizations that you have done and contributions

i have found beyond compare (on windows) makes i very easy to update and if you have commented contributions / changes you can implement them in new version or you can use diff on unix

also for the configuration table (i use phpmyadmin)

i have found the best thing to do is delete the table and install new fields

note all your settings in osc admin ie store configuration, shipping settings etc before you do this and as mentioned b4 backup backup backup

benefits: stability , security, features

  • 1 month later...

How do you migrate the data (customers' addresses, phone numbers, orders' info, product info and so on.....) from 2.1 database over to the new 2.2 database?

Thanks.

ouch

big job!

lots of structure differences between 2.1 and 2.2

i think there are some upgrade utils in the install directory included with 2.2 but i did a lot of manual changes using phpmyadmin

i think with the newest version of phpmyadmin you can copy whole fields including the data
