How do I control sign ups and logins?

I am using the contribution "Prices for logged-In Users Only"

I am a wholesale business. I don't want retail customers to access our prices, but they will be allowed to view our products only...

So, I am using this "Prices for logged-In Users Only", but if you start a new account the prices show up and this results in my problem.

Is there a way to control sign ups? Currently I would like to ONLY allow my existing customers (wholesale) to sign up and log in. I want to control and grant initial permission of those who can sign up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Gerald Kirchner

I'm looking for the same thing. :D

I'm considering to do either one of these ideas... depends on which is easier or better

1. take out the signup link from login box, and once you get money for membership or signup fee then you manually add customer in admin area.

well, take out the signup link is what i would do first..before solving other things...

2. same as above and create new member signup page just to send the new member to paypal or whichever merchant first (have them pay first!!).. then manually create account..or maybe hook it up with payment modules... say paypal...use IPN send back membership order confirmation to member table or new member signup..maybe create new member sign up table in db....urggg i gotta take a look at files and db and think how this can be done. ;) (automate automate automate!!!)

3. members leveling discount... oh now i got an idea, you might wanna install the mod call customer discount. nah..

I would rather create a new mod for this so that normal shoppers can buy at normal price and distributors can buy at wholesale price. would be 2 levels..normal and distributor...hmm..will think about it this week...

was hoping that someone had already done something like this, so I didn't have to do...argg
