Hi,

can anybody help me with the basic directions how to get The Exchange Project Preview Release 2.1 running. I have downloaded it, copied the Admin and Catalog to my www root directory. But what next? How do I start to build my shopping cart? Do I have make any arrangements with my webhost (who supplies all necessary funtions I think).

For the moment I am running my shopping cart with InterChange, but I want to change to OsCommerce. Can I import the database from IC?

Many questions. Anyone?

Regards

First things first... drop the 2.1 version if you can and go for MS1 (2.2)

The 2.1 version is no longer supported and is very limited compared to 2.2

Furthermore support on 2.2 is good, 2.1 is virtually unsupported in these forums.

Then go to http://wiki.oscommerce.com and read the basic docs.

That will give you a good installation / edit overview.

About IC... I don't think you can cut-n-paste the products right over.

Look into EasyPopulate (a contribution) that uses Excel / CSV to quickly insert a lot of items.

Three easy steps my friend but make sure that you have plenty of time on your hands if you want to really customise it.

1: get the latest download, either 2.2ms1 or the daily snapshot.

2: head on over to http://wiki.oscommerce.com to get yourself going

3: use the search facility in these forums to solve your problems one at a time.

Good luck.
