harperk Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Hi i have a new oscommerce 2.3.4.4 install with currently less than 10 products. In the last few weeks since installing a few minor add-ons, that my database size has increased dramatically in a matter of weeks from 957,466 bytes to 34,686,689 bytes and I can not back up through admin as I get the following error Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 54525952 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 32 bytes) in /mounted-storage/home2/sub001/sc17958-FIWR/mysite.co.uk/backoff/backup.php on line 114 I am concerned that installing add-on Alternative administration system has increased the database size by adding table for ip addresses to provide who is online information. I require any help on how to diagnose and decrease the database file size so I can back up in the future. Thanks
Jack_mcs Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 That's way to large for a new shop after only a few weeks. I am not familiar with that addon but it sounds like it is at fault. You should post a question in its support thread for help with it. Maybe that is the normal operation and it won't get much larger? As far as backing up, that is a common problem. Most shared servers won't let you backup large databases, even above 5 MB can cause problems on some. You can use the servers control panel to do that though. harperk Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Thanks Jack for the advise. I have posted on the relevant add-on support thread recently so hopefully I will get a response soon..
