Add Different VAT to different Language

Hello the OSCOMMERCE Community.

Sorry that my first post has to be a question, but I'm a little bit stuck - recently inherited the job of looking after the sales website at work, and I have set up the Italian Language (we all ready had Holland/germany aswell as english)

Anyway - my question is how do I add a different VAT for the italian side, what file should I be looking in - in the admin config page it displays the german and dutch with option to change, this is not needed, I just need to change it from 20% to 22% - files are copys of the english site just translated if this helps.

Not sure which country you are in, but here's a quote from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs website :

If you supply goods to a customer in another EU country who isn't registered for VAT in that country ... then this is called a 'distance sale'. ... For distance sales, you must charge VAT at UK rates in the normal way.

As I read it, you don't charge vat at the Italian rate unless you are in Italy.

But to come closer to addressing the question that was put. It will be simplest to have several separate websites, if they are to be different in several respects - language and tax-rate and so on. They can read from, and write to, the same database. Plus, you can choose a domain-name that is meaningful in Italian.
