aq3 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I can't find the answer to this basic question anywhere on the forum. I am trying to customize OSCommerce and cannot find where "catalog/includes" is on the admin screen. I have been able to update with my logo and understand, for the most part, the categories under "Configuration" but where is catalog/includes? I want to change the look of the page. At the moment, my logo is sitting behind the blue bar at the top. Thanks

aq3 Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Thanks for your response but I think my question is even more basic. Where is "includes/template_top.php" etc. mentioned below? (I'm fairly confused at this point!) The main files for design changes are: 1. includes/template_top.php 2. includes/template_bottom.php 3. stylesheet.css In some cases you might find a need to edit these 2 files. - includes/header.php - includes/footer.php
♥joli1811 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Oscommerce has a front end (catalog) and an admin side the files you are looking for are the frontend (catalog) seeing these on the admin side will not help you change the files or better so it is not relevant . To change install a ftp client filezilla being a free one https://filezilla-project.org/download.php and install a good text editor notepad ++ being a good one http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ go to the link I first sent you and then read how to change your design Download the files from your shop to your computer (using the filezilla) make the changes you want (using notepad++) and upload again Using File zilla Then you have changed your store design. aq3 Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Well, I reacted too quickly. I'm still not able to modify the page. I tried downloading filezilla but failed because of the virus program on my computer. Can I use Dreamweaver CS5.5 to do the customization? I have downloaded the osc file to my computer in DW and have set up the remote server but I get a message "Dynamically-related files could not be resolved because your credentials don't allow file ativity on the server". When I use local testing, the message is "An unknown error occurred while discovering dynamically-related files". There must be an easier way to do this!
♥joli1811 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 If you get a virus warning when downloading file zilla from https://filezilla-project.org/download.php then there is something wrong with your computer settings . Using Dreamweaver is not recommended to edit oscommerce files and is complicated to set up . You need a good ftp program and a good text editor without the tools you can not begin!!! ♥14steve14 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 You could try altering the file using your hosts file manager if you have it, but filezilla should download. Dreamweaver is not a php editor, so you should really use something like notepad++. If you use your hosts file manager just be sure to make a backup of the file on your computer before editing. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
