ken0306 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Hi, I want to know how you guys deal with normal website redirect to mobile website issue. I am currently running my website under 2 difference version. My regular site is under to root level, and mobile site is under a sub folder. I have mobile detected script install under the regular site, and all mobile device will be direct to mobile version home page. Both version is NOT using template. However, when traffic coming from search engine, all mobile devices will be direct back to home page. I was think about install my site with 2 set of templates, one for mobile and one for regular site. So, both version will be about to access with same url, and mobile detection script will be trigger the mobile template. So, I want to know has anyone done that before or is there any other solutions? Any advice is welcome, and thank you in advance. ken
rpdesign Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 @@ken0306 hmm, I remember that if you have ultimate seo's installed it doesn't handle sub-domains correctly for some reason. This could be the problem. Also is the redirect javascript based? If you learn the bootstrap environment, it it naively mobile friendly [changes the display depending on the device] and might just be the solution you are looking for :P With Bootstrap you just need to design your website once instead of having several different templates for the different devices you want to display your website on. Not only that but all the end user needs to do is type in your website to see it on their device. So they do not have to type mobile.mysite.com to get to the mmobile site instead all they have to type is mysite.com. Try looking at valleyjobline.com or theiaff.org [both designed by me by the way (w00t) using Bootstrap 2.3.2] in both a desktop and your phone. You just have to be aware of all of the tables in osCommerce as tables are not nativly reponsive. You'll have to change the design of the templates to a div based design, but once you learn the basics of the div tags in bootstrap it is pretty easy. Always backup your files!
