My localhost test site consists of the following;

XAMPP 1.8.1 for Windows which utilizes the following:

  • PHP Version - 5.4.7
  • MySQL Version - mysqlnd 5.0.10
  • Apache Version - 2.4.3

osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3.3

I have been adding contributions and making edits to the standard install plus adding lot's of products.

I am not planning on going live any time soon.

Here is what I am wondering...

Do I wait for osC v2.4 or upgrade to 2.3.4?

Reason I am asking is it looks like I have to take this route:

  • v2.3.3 - to - v2.3.3.1 then,
  • v2.3.3.1 - to - v2.3.3.2 then,
  • v2.3.3.2 - to - v2.3.3.3 then,
  • v2.3.3.3 - to - v2.3.3.4

Will there be an all-at-once upgrade from 2.3.3 or just from 2.3.3.4 to 2.4?

Also will either 2.3.3.4 or 2.4 break my added contributions?

Sorry for so many questions but the more I search and read the forums the more I seem to get confused lately.

I would suggest going to 2.3.3.4, it is compatible with most contributions. To get some valuable info on contribution compatibility read http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/394804-addons-that-will-break-on-update-to-2334/ and http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/395359-modding-up-a-new-2334-install-documented/

2.4 will break a lot of contributions since it is structurally different than the 2.3+ series.

Thank you so much Nick.

I have been keeping an eye on those threads. That is part of what aroused my concerns.

Off on the upgrade adventure... (w00t)
