after a rousing success for several years with OSC v.2.2RC2, i decided to upgrade to OSC v.2.3.3.4.

i had my web site almost completely configured. then i went into admin and started messing around wth "Modules -> Boxes" and suddenly, for no very obvious reasons (i'm sure there are reasons, i just don't know what they are), i started getting PHP errors in the admin section, and my boxes started vanishing: first it was the bm_information.php, and when i got that back, it was bm_shopping_cart.php, and now the entire left column of boxes has disappeared, and my columns seem to have gotten screwed up.

my site is at http://www.hybridelephant.com/site/

now, when i go to "Modules -> Boxes" it says that i can "Install Module (2)" which are both boxes that were already installed and displaying correctly, previously: 'Best Sellers' and 'Categories'. when i click on "Install Module (2)", both of them say that they are already installed and displaying in the left column (which no longer exists).

i was so close to finishing this, and now it's screwed up and i don't even know where to start to fix it. :'(

i'm hoping that one of you actual PHP coders can tell me where i went wrong, and how to fix it.

i appreciate any help that can be offered. thanks.

Uninstall ALL boxes from both left and right columns

Then

Install boxes one by one until you have the desired boxes in the correct position

i de-installed all the boxes, and my content automatically moved over, to the left.

i selected the "Categories" box to install, in "Modules -> Boxes", and, instead of saying "Install Module" it says "Remove Module"...

so i removed it... then it says that i can install it, so i did.

now the content has moved back over, to the right, and it has the "Categories" box at the bottom of the page, right above the footer...

i'm relatively sure this is due to a missing "alpha" or "omega" somewhere, but i don't know where, because, as far as i know, i didn't actually touch the code, i was doing all of this in admin...

ahhhhh, after reading this I did the suggestion above ... remove the Module and then re install module. It worked, but why?

Because for some reason, the database did not match the installed files. By uninstalling all the boxes, you removed all trace of them from the database, meaning that when you reinstall, all is well.
