Mort-lemur Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Hi, Have been carrying out some speed tests on my new 2.3.3.4 site, and quite happy with the results. The main thing causing delays appears to be serving the static content - has anyone played with using a cooki free server to serve images etc and what effect does this actually have? Thanks Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... So much thanks for all the help given along the way by forum members.

npn2531 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 It makes a significant difference in speed, although it is a pain to maintain a separate website for images. But it really does speed up your site because you are no longer creating cookies for all images and you will have doubled the speed that items can be downloaded. This is because each server can only download 6 items at a time, But with a cookie-less domain you are now serving content from 2 servers, and your page can load 12 items ‘concurrently’. It is a bit tricky to do this and not present the visitor with the 'secure and insecure' messages issue. I wrote a posting here about how to do this: www dot css-oscommerce dot com/pagespeedserve-static-content-from-a-cookieless-domain/ Oscommerce site: OSC to CSS, http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7263 -Mail Manager, http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8120
