I want to get 19% tax view for customers who are not logged on. I want to sell Germany`s people 19% and other countrys 24%. Is this possible?

Anything's possible, but you need to be a bit clearer with your specification. For someone not logged on, you want 19% (VAT?). For the other two cases, are these for logged-in accounts or are you trying to figure out where someone is via their IP address? That's not always reliable. For logged-in accounts where you know the country, it should be possible to do that, but it may take a fair number of code modifications.

Is it fair to non-German customers (and potential customers) to make them think that they'll be paying 19% in taxes, and when they sign up or log in (or worse, at checkout), hit them with 24%? It might just be easier to do a standard 19% VAT for everyone, with a note on the page that orders shipped to addresses outside of Germany pay 24%. If you shipped to me in the U.S., would I be paying 24% tax? I don't think I'm supposed to pay VAT, so you would lose me as a customer.

MrPhil, can you give me some links of your or others' stores that uses the system you have just described?

It's a topic that also is in my mind and I still not sure how will do it.

I was thinking in setting just one price for each product and leave a note that valid VAT number and american don't need to pay VAT. Any thoughts?

I can't tell you of any specific stores doing this. Depending on your country's laws, you may have to display the price with VAT, or maybe without it. I think there are some add-ons for showing multiple prices (such as "was", "sale", "normally", etc.). If you have to display "with VAT", maybe you could also show "with VAT for other countries" and "without VAT" in smaller type. You'd probably have to figure the prices "on the fly", rather than getting them from the database. I don't know what you would show in the shopping cart, or at any point earlier than when the customer's country is known.
