I've mentioned Kate previously in a related thread, and am still using it under KDE :)

Konqueror (KDEs web browser) is also able to do many window splits in the same application window.

I realy like the Epsilon Programmer's Editor by Lugaru Software. It's expensive $250 but realy nice to work with.

I work on a Mac and used Dreamweaver in the past. Recently used Golive for our html site but couldn't figure out the DB part of it. Once I found osC I started using bbedit lite (r.i.p.). I also use Apple's FileMerge extensively. Now I can see exactly what (I) changed.
