aussierach Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Thankyou to those taking the time to read this :) Just doing a Security Check and got some 'issues'.. managed to sort them all out aside from: HTTP Authentication has not been set up for the osCommerce Administration Tool - please set this up in your web server configuration to further protect the Administration Tool from unauthorized access. Can someone kindly tell me what I need to do? Many thanks in advance!!! :D
♥altoid Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Rachael, what this is doing is setting up a username/password access for your admin folder. That admin folder name should be changed as well to add a bit more security. Anyway, the username/password helps protect your admin side from unauthorized intrusions. All this for your site's security. 2.3.3.4 has the tool built right in there to let you do that. Check under the part about adding/editing/removing administrative users. I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can. I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming. However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc. There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.
aussierach Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 I'll check it out Steve, thanks so much for the info :) And yes, I did see the note about changing the admin directory, done that! Thanks again, much appreciated!
