ronhollin
First off, excuse my ignorance on the subject. I have uploaded the catalog and admin directories to my server and changed the permissions to read/write/exe. Now I am supposed use phpMyAdmin or another tool to create a database and user. What is this all about. Does anyone have a link to a step-by-step process of this? Like, 1) double click your FTP program. 2) log in 3) browse to the directory, etc?? ronhollin
That might be step by step for someone that is experienced, and even then not really. Does whoever wrote that expect me to know what phpMyAdmin is?
xcobaltdude
Try a google search for phpMyAdmin. Google is your friend. If all else fails, www.phpmyadmin.net
Guest
phpmyadmin is a little program to make changes in your database but it as nothing to do with osc If you dont know how to create a database for installing your osc, maybe you should ask your hosting provider for instructions how to do it. Aceicol
Hi Ask your host in most cases they are quite helpful, some will already have phpMyAdmin installed on there server. It really isn't as difficult as it seems it just takes a little playing around with things and a bit of trial and error. Sorry I can't help you more but I have a big deadline coming up. Thanks Alex
moyashi
@ phpmyadmin Problem is that it is hard to guess your setup. Are you on a dedicated/shared server? Are you using a panel such as cpanel/plesk/exim/webmin? When you get into phpmyadmin the first page has a small box on the left side of the main window. (phpmyadmin 2.4.0) Then type the name of your database. example: oscommerce click "create" Go back to your browser for installing. That simple. NOTE: Your system admin is the best person to ask.
