Will Upgrading from 2.3.2 fix 500 Internal Server Errors?

My site has been down for a few days now getting a blank page a http 500 Internal Server Error. I've been trying to figure out what could of happened/changed on my site since I made no file changes. Only errors shown in site log were ongoing/previous errors from Ultimate SEO URLs so I uninstalled that, but that didn't help.

Wondering if I should try to do the upgrade 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 to see if that helps. Any suggestions? Already checked with hosting provider and they were no help.

Thanks in advance

Whenever I had the 500 error it was something htaccess related. Meaning I screwed something up in that file.

So save a copy of your current htaccess file, then put a blank htaccess file in your shop and see what happens.

If a blank htaccess works, then your working copy has something in it causing the situation possibly.

If so, you'll have to root around to see what the problem is.

If that's not it let us know and someone else may have an idea where else to look.

Good luck.

I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can.

I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming.

However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc.

There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.

Thank you @@altoid that worked. I'm glad it did, but not sure why since I hadn't messed with it. Guess I will look through and add lines back one at a time to see if maybe my hosting provider did something ?? ugh!

That's the right approach. Since you mentioned the SEO Urls, look at that first. Good luck.

Your host may have changed some server level or configuration, that invalidates some command you're using in .htaccess. Common examples include php_value and php_flag commands, and many hosts have stopped supporting Options commands. If you can't figure out what's going on, ask your host tech support what's been changed recently. They should be able to tell you.
