sub-category name length

forgive what will probably amount to a remedial question, but how does one lengthen the name of the categories and sub-categories? Mine are being cut off.

 

for example.

 

 

I wish to have a sub category called

 

LEVEL I

An Affordable Gauge and Bezel Bundle

 

 

 

 

but when I put that as the sub-category name, I get the following

 

LEVEL I

An Affordable Gauge

 

 

So, my simple question is how do I increase the sub-category name length from 28 characters to let's say... 50?

after a bit of looking... and going on the assumption that the length would need to be changed via the mysqul database... I found the following
