jeu4328 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Hello: I have created a ‘blog’ in Blogger.com that I like better than my initial website using a SiteBuilder template. It is more user friendly for someone like me who has no training in writing code and website development. In my cPanel I have redirected my domain url to my new blog url. This works great. From my new blog I am able to link to my osCommerce eStore. I used to be able to click on TOP in my eStore and it would take me back to my website ... and more recently it would return me back to my new blog. However, for some reason this no longer works. I am no longer able to return to my blog from my eStore. I am not sure why it no longer works. I recently upgraded to osC 2.3.3 and I am wondering if that has something to do with it. Can someone please give me direction as to where to go in File Manager to make changes to redirect TOP to my blog url? And if specific instructions could be given as to what I should type, I would appreciate it. I'm completely stumped. I've been looking for days for a solution and I'm not finding one. Thank you for your help. :) Jewell jewellsembroidery.com
Guest Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 @@jeu4328 You should NOT have any links AWAY from your osCommerce site once your customer has entered it. When they enter, they are assigned an OSCID which follows them through product selection and through the check out process. A link away from the site would cause the loss of the OSCID, if the customer jumps back to the cart, they checkout process would likely fail. So, although you would like it that way, it is detrimental to the functionality of the cart. Perhaps you might want to add a link to the checkout success offering the customer a way to get back to the blog without interrupting the checkout process ? Chris

jeu4328 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Can I just remove TOP from the Navigation Bar? It seems redundant, as TOP and CATALOG seem to be the same. Am I correct, or do they serve different purposes?
jeu4328 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 I think I'm all set. I've commented out TOP and changed CATALOG to HOME. If there is a reason why I should have TOP and CATALOG I will change it back. Thanks again for your help. Jewell
♥14steve14 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 None at all. You can delete either of them with no site adverse effects. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
Jack_mcs Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Can I just remove TOP from the Navigation Bar? It seems redundant, as TOP and CATALOG seem to be the same. Am I correct, or do they serve different purposes? The standard installation assumes the shop would be in a sub-directory so Top would be to the entrance section of the shop and Catalog to the shop's directory. When they are the same location, it doesn't serve any purpose to have them both. I'm assuming you only have one location since the change you made did not cause you to lose part of the site so the change you made is correct. westernfirebrand Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Hi, I would like to comment out 'TOP' but can't find where to do it. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks, Graham
