How to alter configure files

I am very new to this fourm and to osCommerce...My question is what program do you use alter configure.php files.

The best way is to install an ftp program on you computer below are free programs.

 

https://filezilla-project.org/

 

This is an ftp progam which allows you to download the file / files to your computer / desktop.

 

You will need the ftp access details provided by you host.

To open the files you will need a program /text editor I use notepad++

Your configure files x 2 will be found

 

in includes/configure.php

and admin/includes/configure.php

 

change / save... and upload remember when you get working the file permissions should be changed to 444 for security reasons

Dont forget that to change the configure files you will have to change the file permission setting first. Then change them back after the changes have been made.
