I need to add an option to my shipping settings for box dimensions so the store will have a correct shipping cost with FedEx. I'm using the plugin for FedEx http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7977. I read on the forum that someone suggested putting the box dimension in the tare weight section but that jumped the shipping cost way too high. I have also checked the community add-on section of osCommerce's site and did not find any module that added shipping box dimensions either. Can someone help me?

ozEworks Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Tare Weight is the weight of the packing e.g. the box, bubble weight etc. You need to first record the dimensions of each product and the above Add On would help you code that. However the real issue is upgrading the FedEx module to use them. You would need to read the FedEx API documentation as to how that would work. The more complex issues is if you need to factor in shipping two products together. What then are the dimensions? And/or do you ship separately? Finally factored into this is the max. weight of a parcel for FedEx which I believe is 150lbs. Bottom line is that is complex.
