Modifying the Oscommerce Homepage

Hi All,

I am new to osCommerce. I want to build an ecommerce website pretty soon so thought of going with this package. However, I am not able to understand how to start creating web pages.I am working with Dreamweaver CS3.

Can I modify the exisiting oscommerce files like index.php etc to match my needs. Moreover, how to modify the homepage to an entirely different look or do I need to use templates ?

Please, any help in this regard would be much much appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance to all for your time. :)

Regards

Hi Burt,

Thank you so much for your help. Moreover, I tried using some templates however whenever I use those, I am not able to open index.php in my browser & it says error, enable register_globals in php.ini or something like that .. This doesn't happen with the original index.php which comes in the zip file of oscommerce

Also, when I open it in dreamweaver, nothing is showing in the design view only some yellow "PHP" boxes are there without any design or anything. How can I modify something if I am not able to view the actual output ? :(

I am little puzzled here and any help would be appreciated as early as possible.

Regards,
