Anyway to disguise a 403 forbidden access as a 404 error

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

At the moment whenever a user tries to access a url which includes a forbidden folder then it provides a 403 forbidden access page. This gives a clue to any bad people that this folder exists and is forbidden. Thus trying to find out what is in this folder.

However is there anyway to disguise a 403 error as a 404 error instead to give the disguise that the folder does not exist.

I am using a linux goDaddy server. I have seen others talk about using windows server and being able to disguise it but not linux.

Any help?
