Database Tables Automatically Deleting

Recommended Posts

I have a cart that has been workig great for the past 8 years or so. Recently, I restored a backup. Everything went fine. Sometime after the backup (in the middle of the night), certains tables in the database just disappear. product_options, reviews, specials, whos_online, zones, etc. When I restore a backup again, they come back, but then later, automatically delete from the database again. Any ideas why that might be?

Thanks.

Mark

1) Check with your hosting provider to see if they are experiencing problems with the server.

2) Check the version of your store to see if it is compatible with the PHP / SQL versions on the server.

3) Look for malicious code and anomalous files to see if the site has been compromised.

You could also check your access logs to see if there are any sql commands being run (sql injection).

If you can pin down the time it happens then concentrate around then in the logs.

Also check if there is any "dodgy" code in your database.

Hmmm. When you "recently restored a backup", did you fire off some sort of script from "cron"? That's the only way I can do command line stuff on my server. By any chance did you forget to remove the cron job when you were done? I think the key to it is to see if this is happening with any sort of regularity.
