I would change the vertical category menu, I look like a Menubar DHTML menu, I do not have too much knowledge of php, I would have to find a tutorial or a contribution

There is a menu bar option in the Header Footer Contents Modules addon. It uses Superfish and not DHTML to display the categories menu.
