Backend/Admin Demo?

I was trying to look at the admin demo page but it was just giving me the store front page. I'd like to see the functionality for allowing me to design the site within the platform. I'm also looking to find out how the seller receives order information - do they log on or receive an email?

Thank you

best thing to do lisa is either install oscommerce on a subdomain or setup wamp or other local server software and have a play with it.

The admin area does NOT allow you to change the design. There is NO template / theme installer. All layout and design changes are done by editing the core files manually. However, having said that, osCommerce is still the best software for custom ecommerce solutions.

As Mark suggested, you should install it and take a look at it.

You could check the partners section under templates:

You could, but that is at a cost. Just to make it clear the commercial services offered in the above link are not included with a standard installation.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to play around with it on a subdomain. I've done some product management and simple editing of an oscommerce site before, but never built one from scratch.

Hi

Yes the seller receives emails as well as seing the order online when the login to their account. There are some addons available which can be used to make the order forms more asthetic. Most of the design is outside of admin in terms of the look of the site, you can either do this manually and edit files such as the stylesheet but alternatively you could use a template and there are many out there.
