Adding product to cart and applying discount... with QR Code link

my goal: to have a QR Code that if scanned would add a specific item to the cart and apply a discount code.

 

Installed addons 'add product' and 'discount code'

 

with just guessing, i could not find the correct codes to include in the addproduct.php that would also apply the discount code....

 

work around..

 

calling the addproduct.php and putting the ?discount_code=discountname after the php in the link resulted in what I wanted to achieve... although it would be cleaner if someone could make it all happen in the addproduct.php file....

 

but until then, here is what I'm using... (live site)

and if you have your smart phone handy... see if the QR Code works as well. the coupon should follow you whether you have an existing account or have to register as new.... try it out and give me feedback if you will... once you hit the paypal screen just exit or go back to clear the cart contents.

true... if I knew how to program, I would prefer it to show on the initial cart page... however, it does (or should) show up subsequently after you register or login as a previous customer once you get to the order total... some customers might bail before getting that far because they don't see the discount right away... so the advertisment would say "final discounted price appears on payment review page" or something like that...

 

hopefully someone can fix that to appear right on the initial cart page....
