Selling event tickets

I am totally new to oscommerce. I am guessing it is a free open source shopping cart you can upload using mysql and php server that your site is on?

 

What I want to achieve is to setup a shopping cart that allows users to select an event they want to attend and purchase a ticket for it (or several). They must note their name and contact number/email down when purchasing so we can add them to the guest list. For each ticket they are to receive an e-ticket as an attachment to a confirmatyion email or perhaps HTML as part of the email itself. basically so they have something to print off and take along. They should be able to buy as many as they like. I only want to use paypal as the payment option and we have an account set up already. The other thing we are doing is that tickets are normally £10 each but for a limited time people can buy 2 for £10 (they have to buy 2 not just £5 for 1).

 

Is all this possible using osCommerce and what add-ons are required to set this up? Can some one let me know how best to make this work?

Yes, you can do this with osCommerce but it will take some custom coding to get it to work as you want. If you send me a direct message, I can send a link to an example site that I did a while ago for events.
