diecastandsports Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I'm thinking about opening an osCommerce store and I already have an domain name and my question is can I have the same domain that I all ready have?
Guest Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 @@diecastandsports Sure, you can use your current domain name for your osCommerce installation. You just have to install it into a sub-directory and then link it from your existing site to your new store. Chris
MrPhil Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 If you are supplying some hosting service and some domain name, sure, you can use any domain name you want. osCommerce only supplies the store software, which you have to install and configure on a site that you've provided. From your question, it sounds like you're confused and think osC is some kind of "all in one" store hosting service. It's not. There may be other store hosting services that use osCommerce, but we're not associated with them in any way.
diecastandsports Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 yeah I'm having trouble understanding how to start the installation
♥14steve14 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 If your hosts have cpanel, do they offer a one click install option for the latest version. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
diecastandsports Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Is that free? and how would I do that?
Guest Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 @@diecastandsports You can download the package HERE, once you have it you Unzip it and read the guides found in it. Chris

MrPhil Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 cpanel (actually, cPanel) is the name of a specific brand of "control panel" for your hosting service. The first thing to do is to find out what your host has provided you with in the way of a control panel... how do you look at your files, make settings changes, etc.? Most control panels provide some sort of "one button" installation of popular website applications such as osCommerce 2.3.3 (do NOT install 3.0 if they offer it). Normally, I would recommend against "one button" installs, but it sounds like something you're going to have to use until you get a little more system experience under your belt.
