Noob Alignment question.

Hi, im new to OScommerce, and i'm trying to build a horizontal nav menu into my header.

I've created a div with a some <ul> and <li> inside to contain my buttons.

Now the background of the div you can see is at the top behind the header image, and not behind the buttons which is where I'd like it a bit lower down.

 

I'm sure this something dumb on my part. I'm still learning all this.

 

If anyone could help me out or at least point in a direction I would be incredible grateful.
