trackable attribute quantities

Hi

im not a developer but i have had a oscommerce site for a few years, (2.1 and 2.3)

i was wondering if it was possible to make quantity tracking for attributes as part of the core for oscommerce.

i have a retail clothing site and had to use qtpro for management of sizes but this mod does not like to work with other add ons.

Intergation with Amazon/Ebay and Mobile apps can not be done with qtpro, from my understanding the SQL is changed to much and the way the future is going these are now part of the ecommerce selling platforms.

Hope you dont think im being cheeky but it would make sense to have control of attribute quantities

Thank you

Emma

@@clippers

There are MANY features not included as part of a standard installation of osCommerce that ARE standard with other carts, however, the core development team never really wants to add anything to a standard installation.

@@clippers you should think about finding others who need similar, each put £100 into a pot and get a developer such as @@DunWeb to code it up for you. You can then give it back to other osCommerce users by making it a freely available addon if you so wish. It is end users such as you who drives development, it is not developers who drive development (if that makes sense).

When V3+ is finally released it will have a built in solution for product variants and stock tracking.

Im actively looking for a fix now for 2.3 as Im finding it very hard to keep up hand syncing Ebay, Web and High street shop stock levels and now my partner wants to add Amazon to the mix. (my business is quite small)

But from the responses ive had from developers on this site, the bridges to these add-ons that support the above selling platforms might mean a complete rewrite of Qtpro as they cant access the bridges/files. Looks like its going to be a big job as my site is heavily modified. If I manage to find the solution and if the developer who manages to do the fix doesn’t mind, I would like to post the fix in the add-ons for other qtpro users.

I did look at version 3 before I went for 2.3 but it didn’t support my payment system at the time and a I had a time element issue with the swap over and it wasn’t a stable version at the time.

I just thought if the 2.4 version had the attribute stock control it might bring in new users who probably saw the 105 pages thread of qtpro issues and fled. Im quite surprised hat no-one has brought this up before.

Thank you :D

Things like this get mentioned in these forums all the time, and no one seems to take any notice of them, especially those developing oscomerce.

Tracking attributes makes sense and is applicable to many stores. Whethere it's sizes, colors, styles, etc... I think it's a great feature.

I'm not really a dog.

as mentionned in this bug report (http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/tracker/issue-388-stock-check-failed-with-a-product-variant-and-custom-value/), the stock tracking with osCommerce 3 framework is bugged.

if unit tests had been written before every line of code, coupled with an automated testing system, this kind of crap would not occur.

it sounds like team forgets the good software development practices.
