Eshuman Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 How do you display the subcategories constantly without having to click on them? Does anyone have the code?
♥altoid Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hello Emily, I realize this does not directly answer your question but as a suggestion consider googling for such info. I see you have another post on another issue that googling would get you miles ahead on. For example in your case I googled display subcategories oscommerce and that gave me several good leads on where to begin. Some don't exactly meet what you wnat, but they're close enough to get you started. I think I saw one on stackoverflow.com that might be in the ball park. The reason for this suggestion is that in many cases someone else has already asked that question and perhaps a good response was already given. I've been able to find many solutions to some of the most obscure coding issues you'd imagine, some from posts back a half dozen years or so. Happy Code Hunting I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can. I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming. However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc. There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.
Eshuman Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Thanks for the response. I have googled this, and spent several hours going through code. Unfortunately none of the codes I have come across have worked.
♥altoid Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 @@Eshuman I've not had that particular need in my shop, otherwise I'd share what I came up with. My hunch is the answer is in the sql query that generates your categories, but I'm not mysql savvy enough to point you in the right direction. Maybe one of the more learned participants here can help you along Good luck I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can. ♥mattjt83 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 @@Eshuman So you want to display top level categories and second level categories all the time in your categories menu? Do you have a URL for an example? You can PM me the URL if you don't want to post it publicly. Matt
Eshuman Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Yes, I want the second level subcategories to be constantly displayed underneath the top categories, without anyone having to click on them. For example: Sterling Silver (top level category) Amethyst (second level subcategory) Aquamarine Peridot etc.
