Ever since yesterday I have been trying to fix this error to no joy

Your configuration seems to be requesting something to do using /customers/d/a/8/... while you are apparently actually running under /customers/3/c/e/... It sounds like you've got something set up wrong in the configure.php files. Did you move your account recently, or something?
