julieee Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hello, I am shifted to new VPS from Hostpaedia. Whenever i try to install oscommerce on my new host, after installation when i visit to homepage it gives me 500 internal server error. One of my friend told it may be due to PHP mis-configuration of max_timeout or PHP version or HTACCESS error. It doesnt seems so, i contacted my host Hostpaedia Team and they told to contact script vendor for minimum specification of PHP. Please help i am new to this all.
Jack_mcs Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 It can be due to many things since that error is a catch-all type of error. Without support from your host (you really should host with someone that supports the package), it can be difficult to find. If the same files worked on the other host, it is probably due to the includes/confiugre.php and/or .htaccess files. If your shop requires register_globabls to be on, your new host may not have that set. Try renaming the .htaccess file. That will cause other problems if it is required but it should remove that error if it is the cause. If you had cache set in the database, you could try turning that off. You can do that in admin, if that works, or will need to do it via the database if not. You may also try to explain to your host that this isn't due to a resource problem but is due to some setting in your account. They should be able to tell you what is causing it, at least.
