Hi,

Happy new year to all.

I have bought ready template for OsCommerce 2.3.3 from AlgoZone and after installing the template some of the chars like æ ø å (norwegian special chars) have been replaced with a "?", it only occurs some places, so I guess this is something related to the files that I have received and replaced from AlgoZone. My problem right now is that I struggle to find out how I can fix this.

Some examples of places where this has happened is Logon at the header menu, advanced search in the bottom of the index page and search in the serch field on the index page.

Have added a few screenshots.

The address to my site is www.emilsverden.no - choose norwegian in order to see the errors.

I really hope that someone can help me, AlgoZone will not support this.

All the best.

You have to change the characters in the language files as they are not correctly encoded. If you open them in define language in admin you will see the strange characters. Some editors will show them correctly still if they are not.

Commercial templates are not supported on this forum. I suggest you contact the template provider or a paid developer for support on how to change the charset to match your language.

It shows up fine in my browser (once I select Norsk). Either you've fixed it, or it's a local browser problem. Your page is being displayed in UTF-8, and some of the language files are/were probably in Latin-1 or some other single byte encoding. As mentioned before, that's something your template supplier would have to deal with. Is your template supposed to be UTF-8 compatible?

A comment on the site: the headlines like "Spring/Summer 2012" obscuring part of your product/category picture looks really bad (i.e., cutting a baby's head in half). Is each a single picture that you supply? I would revise some of them so that the picture of interest isn't overlaid. I also see that the pictures are in English, which would probably turn off Norwegian customers. I don't know if there's a way to pick language-specific pictures built into osC, but it could probably be done with a little manual editing (perhaps as simple as putting the images in images/norsk/ etc., and updating the appropriate product or category picture entries in phpMyAdmin).
