raps Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Hi, just installed my new shop, but I can not seem to find a setting for me to disable the shop. I hope their is as I do not want the shop to be open for business while I am editing it. Thanks
Jack_mcs Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 There isn't a built-in option. There are addons you can install that will do that in various ways but if the shop is not complete, then none will work well for you, most likely. The best and easiest way would be to password protect the shops directory. raps Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 Jack_mcs Thanks alot, I will look into it. Although having a feature to disable the board from the admin menu is widely used in shops, and I find it very disappointing that it isn't included with oscommerce as standard.
Jack_mcs Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 You'll find there is very little included in oscommerce as standard. There are many addons though that will cover just about any change you want to make. Some shop packages have a bunch of options as standard. But not everyone wants those. I, for example, never need to block my site so having an option to disable it would just bloat the code and database. This may change in version 3 but for the current versions, you need to add what you need if it isn't in there already.
