Product Displays Multiple Times In Search Results

When I conduct a search using a "keyword" , products are duplicated in the search result window when they are assigned to multiple categories . How can this be corrected? Do I need to have coding updated or is there a configuration setting?

double check your search query, it it default? if yes, a simple "select disctinct" onstead of "select" should do the trick ... if it doesn't, post the search page code here (just the part where the query is being created should do)
