Cannot create user account or add items to the cart

If there is an FAQ someone can point me to, I'd be grateful as I'm sure that this a newbie mistake.

 

Ive installed everthing & have it mostly working. Can add products, categories, setup basic "My store"

info etc.... but I cannot create a "Test User" account or add anything to the cart.

 

I see no errors. Is there a specific oscommerce error log? Maybe it is a permissions problem?

I've gone thru instructions (again) & also made sure that the directories recommended to be writable

from the "security directory permissions" page of the admin tool are either writable (or not) based

on it's recommendations (Note the "cache directory we are intruced to create & make sure that is

writable by the webserver is noted as writeable by that tool, but it seems to indicate it should _not_

be writable??? "x" in the recommended column).

figured this out. I'll give more details later.. short answer was that the URL in my configure.php for the http server was the

URL to a web-hop redirect instead of the actual URL with alternate port to which the webhop redirected. change it to the actual

URL & port.. now it all works.

spoke to soon I guess. Can add items to cart & create an account but cannot login... Admin page shows logins accruing

but login is not shown via client page.
