500 Internal server error

I installed a shopping cart about 3 months ago at:

 

http://nbeautyvirginhair.com/haircart

 

It seems so far to be working at this level but....

 

when I try to get to admin:

 

http://ebeautyvirginhair.com/haircart/admin

 

I get 500 internal error instead of the login page.

 

The only changes to the site that were made was

to set expiration dates on two products.

 

I contacted my hosting company and they seem to think

it's the software!

 

Any answers?

Are you with godaddy ? If so, you may want to check your php.ini file as they recently made server configuration changes that effect the php.ini and .htaccess files.

rename the .htaccess file. Clear your browser cache and then try to log in. If you get in, you will know 100% it is something in the .htaccess file.

If temporarily getting rid of each .htaccess file doesn't isolate the problem, here is a list of things you can look at: http://www.catskilltech.com/freeSW/SMF/faqs/index.html#err500 . Even if you didn't make any code changes, a hacker might have, so don't ignore those checks.
