mibmusic Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Hi, I just installed version 2.3.3 and am trying to sell my MP3s, I must be missing something because when I test purchase one, no download link appears, I do have the product linked to the mp3 file, I think so anyway. I had the older version of oscommerce and it worked there, but I like the newer version much better so I hope someone has some advice. Thanks mibmusic
Jack_mcs Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 You have to enable the download controller, setup an attribute for the download and set the weight of the product to 0. ♥14steve14 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 With your test orders what is the order status of the product after the sale has been made. You also have to make sure that you have entered the full filemane as the attribute ie include the file extension type. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
mibmusic Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks, I have download enabled, as an option in attributes, I have the weight at 0, in attributes I have option name 'download' option value 'mp3' , filename matches the exact mp3 file I have in the catalog download folder. When I complete a test transaction it says my product will ship and order status is pending. What am I missing?
mibmusic Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Is there a step by step walk through on adding downloads to your store?
♥14steve14 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 The easiest way to get downloads working as they should is to add super download store. The addon will fully automate the whole process. As standard you have to manually change the order status on every downlaod ordered from your store. Just to try this, login to your admin and click on the customers area then go to orders. Click on the order and in the righthand box click the edit button. You should now be able to update the order status. Click save and the download should now be available in the test account orders page in the store. The test account customer should aslo be sent an email telling them the order has been updated. See what i mean about the standard setup being a nightmare. Super downloads simplifies thing so much from a store owners point of view, and also allows the customer to get an immeadiate download of what ever they purchased. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
mibmusic Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 thanks, I downloaded the file, how exactly do I install to my server? do I install manually on my local file then 'put' the folder?
mibmusic Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 I did the inconvenient manual update as you suggested in admin with the order update, a link did appear but I got an error page " Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
♥14steve14 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 The addon comes with install instructions, which are easy to follow. If your store has been modified install manually. If the files are standard use the included files and overwrite your current files. Add the sql file and all should be ready to go. For your error, in your admin area configuration downloads make sure you have download by redirect to false. Some servers do not like the setting being true. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
mibmusic Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 uh, I know this sounds dumb, but what sql file?
♥14steve14 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 The instruction included with the addon explain everything, They are there to read. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
