Discount Code for osCommerce 2.3.1 + Free Product Checkout

I need to sell a product that's 100% off with a coupon code. I'm trying the Discount Code for 2.3.1 plugin (http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7700), but even though the total price is correct at $0.00, the sub-total still reflects the original product amount and the Free Product checkout option is not enabled for me at checkout. I could not find a thread for this plugin, so I thought I'd post to see if there is a way for me to get these two contributions to play nicely together. If there is another contribution that will get it done, please let me know. I just need a coupon plugin where the code can be limited to one instance of a product in a shopping cart and can work with Free Product Checkout.
