broadstreetbully Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I am making a new webshop and I've installed OSC 2.3.3... I downloaded some addons that say "2.3" but noticed, or figured, that some of these "2.3" addons are for version 2.3.1 and not 2.3.3 because in some of the install instructions it said to look for a piece of code to edit/replace and it is not there or it looks different than in the instructions... I am quickly finding out that I should probably have installed 2.3.1 instead of 2.3.3 since at least half of the addons I want to use can not install correctly because of the difference between the 2 versions... would it be wise to stop now, delete 2.3.3 and re-install 2.3.1? I mean, I wanted to go back to 2.2 but I saw there were some security concerns with 2.2 plus I like the way the admin looks in 2.3 with the sales/customer info as soon as you log in... if alot, or most of the addons I need to use are 2.3.1 I guess I should go ahead and re-install 2.3.1... has anyone else noticed any of the code being different in the files than in the install instructions?
Guest Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 @@broadstreetbully The only add ons created for 2.3.1 that MAY not work with 2.3.3 are those that deal with user accounts such as admin level access control or those that change the customer log in from the normal email account username to an actual username. Chris ok, but in a few of the addons I went to install there was some code that needed to be edited and the code in the instructions was either totally different than the code in my file(s) being edited or just not there at all.. is that due to the person who made the addon?

I have seen many add ons that were updated from 2.2 to work with 2.3.x, but, not all the changes needed were made by the author. Tim
Guest Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 @@broadstreetbully Reasons the contribution code may be different than what you have in your site: 1) You are using a commercial Template 2) Your site has been updated from a previous version already 3) There are out-dated contributions installed on your site. Chris it's a fresh install....all I did was add a few 2.3.3 addons... is there another way to change the look/colors of the site besides using theme switcher?
♥kymation Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 You can update your theme manually using these instructions. Then again, Theme Switcher is one of the easiest Addons to install -- you only need to make a couple of minor changes to one file.
